The designer himself was very involved in the exact shade of red, saying, "this is more of a berry - we want really bright," as he told a model to eat first before going back to makeup to get her lips redone. The theme of Mizrahi's fall collection is "Smile" and "bright red lips make everyone smile," said the designer. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux garnered inspiration from the clothing. "They are very eclectic, full of fantasy and color," he said, "so I want red lips that are very sharp and clear." He used red lipstick with red pigment powder on top for an ultra matte finish. The rest of the face was left bare, save foundation and powder for "pure-looking skin." Pecheux also found the lipstick fun, and perfect for now. "It's true that women wear red lipstick during recessions," he said. "When you don't have enough money for a new outfit, handbag or shoes, you can still buy a new lipstick. But when you do spend the money, you want it to be impactful, and red lips change everything!"
